Subject: Bachelorette party and haircut

My weekend was filled with attending Miranda's bachelorette party. Contrary to the rumors in Breathitt County (gotta love how things get started from seemingly nowhere at home:-), there was no stripper..haha. We did have lots of fun though. We had a hummer-limo and went to three different bars..finally getting in around 3:30. Lots of dancing..and drinking.:-) Miranda seemed to have a good time too and that is the most important thing. So, the wedding is this weekend and wouldn't you know that my face has decided to break out for the first time in months. Ah...I suppose it will match the huge burn mark on my forearm! Isn't that how things always appear..when least wanted?

Yes, I did get my haircut...but no one has mentioned it. I got layers added and shorter bangs..which I think is a pretty big change...but I guess maybe that's only noticeable to me. I have an appointment in a few weeks to get highlights...still debating that. (Btw..if you have an opinion on that..you should post a comment: should or should not jessica get highlights?).

So much trouble getting up this morning!!! It was such a stuggle..and that being with me getting 9 hours of sleep. I just really need a day where I do not have to be awakened by an alarm clock. However...that is not going to happen anytime sooon. If this continues...it is going to be a looong semester. Going to try to motivate myself to do some reading for class tonight too..it is just hard to get back in the groove of things. I came across this blog that I enjoy reading..perhaps its just the lovely therapist in me..but I think it's interesting..here it is.

Subject: Late to class...

Yes, classes have started officially. I made my first stink in the program on day two of classes. I overslept and woke up 10 minutes on second day of classes. Which perhaps wouldn't be that big of a deal except there are only 10 people in the class...just my PhD class cohort. I survived though...and got a hold of Jenny who informed the prof that I was going to be late. Sure glad I am already in..and hopefully that won't be held against me. :-) Classes don't seem like they are going to be that overwhelming though and I think I am going to like everyone in my cohort.

Other than that I have been in sort of a down mood and I am not sure really why. I think it is a combination of things..and then classes thrown right in with the mix of it all. I am going to Louisville to Miranda's bachelorette party tomorrow night..that should be fun. We are renting a limo and the whole deal. Then..of course the wedding is next weekend. I think I may try to do the lovely "cabbage soup diet" starting Sunday to lose a bit of weight for the wedding..at least get rid of retained water. Don't know how well the whole cutting caffeine out the second week of classes will go though...hmmm. My latest toy has been my new cell phone. I have been downloading ringtones, etc. I figured out today how to send pics that I have taken to the phone to serve as wallpaper.:-) If you are bored and want to pick out a ringtone for yourself..you can go here type in my information: number 859-797-1790 and password: jessica. I am not wanting a handheld PC or palm...I am becoming a "technology dork" as my dear roomate Lisa says. I could download the DSM-IV plus med info..it would be so handy. I am trying to hold off until Christmas. Of course it could be a "Merry early Christmas" present to me.:-) Still "hanging out" with the guy..as far as I know. Yes, I have developed feelings for him, but it is looking like that this is as far as things are going to go with us right now..ah well. Let's be honest...I don't have time for a relationship really, but I still would like one. I know..it's mixed up. Anyways, it's off to get my hair cut..

Subject: Needles and school

Yeah...so I went to the doctor yesterday and I was lucky enough to need blood drawn. I had a student who was new drawing the blood so they were talking about the procedure step by step and it was just too much for me. I threw up my entire lunch and had to lay down..it was lovely. The poor girl kept telling me to breathe in my nose and out my mouth and each time I did..it just made me puke even more. I am such a big baby when it comes to needles..and it doesn't seem to be getting better with age.

School starts next week. I am dreading the running around and million things to do, but I am excited to be starting classes. I think I would enjoy classes so much more if there wasn't so much else going on too. Oh well... I think I may go get a massage on Tuesday before classes start, that would be nice. Well, I had a wonderful weekend in upstate New York visiting Megan and Caitlin (and Vas of course...Meg's boyfriend). We spent a couple of days just visiting places close to Rochester and then the last day at Niagara Falls. I didn't expect upstate NY to be so picturesque, however it was really lovely. Just imagine green rolling hills surrounded by wine vineyards. And of course Niagara Falls was gorgeous. We did the Maid of the Mist..a boat that took us out to the edge of the falls..truly amazing. It is always great to catch up and spend time with the girls too..they crack me up. It was a great weekend getaway. So that puts an end to my lovely summer travels. School will begin soon....

I spoke with an old friend last night. Sometimes it is so nice to just talk to someone that you haven't in awhile. Just talking to them and hearing their voice brought back lots of happy memories. It was something I really needed last night. No comment on the love life for now.

Well...I finally got my favorite Chicago pictures posted. Things have been good here. I have just been going to work and hanging out with friends in between. I have under a month now until classes start...where did the summer go? This weekend I am going to visit Megan and Caitlin in New York. I haven't ever visited Niagra Falls, so I am flying in Buffalo on Friday and we are going to make a weekend of it. I have been still hanging out with the guy. All I really know right now is that I have fun with him and he adds spontaneity to my life. I will keep you posted.
